Rocksteady have yet again crafted the definitive Batman video game. They’ve taken the best parts of their previous work and improved it in ways I didn’t think were possible. There didn’t seem to be much room for improvement over what Arkham Asylum did, yet Rocksteady shows us why they’re the best at developing The Bat. This is the game that legions have clamored for since the amazing Batman: Arkham Asylum came out a year and a half ago and shattered everyone’s expectations for what a Batman game could and should be. Batman waits for the first foolish goon to attack before springing into action, easily disposing of the overmatched criminals. “He’s here! Batman’s here!” one of the thugs shouts. The rest of the group leaps back in surprise. ![]() He pulls up at the last moment, extending his legs and kicking the thug hard in the ribs before flipping backwards and landing perfectly on his feet. His long cape snaps and goes taught, allowing the vigilante to glide through the cool air. ![]() He scans a group of thugs in the alley below, spots his target, and leaps from the gargoyle. ![]() Perched from a gargoyle high above the crime-ridden city, the mysterious watcher plans his next attack. Snow falls on grimy streets as a dark figure surveys the city stretched out in front of him.
